Holidays

Well, Its the holidays, and so far I have managed to keep losing weight.

I am now sitting at 166 pounds. I am very proud of how far I have come in just 3 months! I hope to lose 2 more pounds this week, although I dont think its going to happen because even though Im still working out, Ive had a couple christmas cookies, and some chocolate LOL and I had pizza on Saturday.

The holidays are so tempting its such a hard time to lose weight. I hope to get through to New years at least maintaining my loss. I am going to my moms this week to help her bake her cookies...yeah we all know Im gonna eat some. LOL PLUS Im making cookies tonight, and fudge! Oh well its only Christmas once a year.

One good thing is that I asked for a heart rate monitor watch for Christmas! Its for people that are serious about fitness and it was not cheap! So if I dont go to the gym, my husband would kill me LOL

I know I need to post pics again!!!! It has been 3 months today.

Update

Im still here!!!

I am down to 168.4 as of yesterday. I was very surprised, since Thanksgiving and the day after I was not a good girl!!!!

I am still lifting 4 days per week, and Ive started doing HIIT for cardio. If you dont know what that is, its High Intensity Interval Training. Its a BITCH. I run 2.5 miles on the track at the gym, but it is .1 mile SPRINT and then .1 mile walk. I swear Im half dead by the end! Its much harder than just jogging 2.5 miles.

My husband told me the other day, Im getting so skinny! I was excited.

I am well on my way to my goal!!!

I need to keep it controlled at Christmas time. I tend to eat like crap the whole week before!!! And Im on vacation, so it will be even worse. AND Im going to my moms to BAKE of all things. She asked me to help her with her Christmas baking. YIKES!!!! I guess as long as I get back on the horse, Ill be ok.

Ive been busy!!!

WOWZERS!!!! Ive been a busy girl lately, and I have not had much time to get here and post! I also dont think anyone is reading this stupid thing anyway!

I have been hanging in there, I lost 2.4 pounds last week. That puts me at 23 pounds lost! This week I had a very naughty day on Saturday. I ate grilled cheese, some chocolate, and I went to TGIF's and had Cajun Shrimp and Chicken pasta before my Nine Inch Nails concert!!!! Oh well though, I need to keep my sanity!!!! Oh yeah, I had some nacho's and a beer at the concert too LOL

I just realized its time for me to post progress pics again. So Ill do that soon!

Ive been running on the treadmill at the gym, for 30-40 minutes. Im slowly trying to increase my speed. And Im still lifting weights 4 times a week too.

I am really proud of myself, today I did 30 minutes on the treadmill without walking!!!!!

frustrated

I was so frustrated with my scale yesterday morning I just wanted to bash it with a hammer and throw it outside. I once again only lost 0.4 pounds.

I know I was naughty on wednesday when I ate all that candy and then Friday I had some too. That prob has something to do with it. I also *hope* I am gaining muscle mass. I am seeing a difference in the way I look which is good, I know. I need to stop focusing on the scale so much I guess.

I am very proud of my progress in the weight room!! I am now using 20# weights for dumbell curls, and all of my shoulder excersizes. I also use them with my dumbell bench press. I am using 25# for my dumbell back rows, and overhead triceps raise. I squat 67 pounds 10 times comfortably. I would guess my max to be around 90-100 pounds.

So progress! But I swear Im gonna be really good this week and not cheat at all. Well see what happens!

I only lost 0.4 pounds this week. I knew I wouldnt lose much, Im prob bloated.

I feel awful, I had a bunch of chocolate today. Im not gonna lie, thats why I have this blog. I will be glad when Halloween is over and this candy is out of the house.

just had to say

I went to olive garden yesterday, and I had the salmon and broccoli!!! wooooohooooo I had 2 breadsticks though LOL

And today we went to Fire Mountain. Its a buffet place. I ate quite a bit but it was all healthy. I had baked fish, green beans, corn, salad and pineapple for dessert!! I was gonna have frozen yogurt, but it was broken. Gods way of telling me not to eat it I guess! LOL

progress this week

I was down 3 pounds this week!!!! I am very happy with that! Af is going to be rearing her ugly head this week, so Im usre Ill be nice and bloated and wont lose as much:--(

I am going to be changing my weight training routine, since Ive been doing this one for about 5 weeks now. I wont change it too much, just replace an exercize here or there and maybe do it in reverse order to shock my muscles again. I am still sore every time I work out though!

I am lifting more weight than when I started too. Its great to feel yourself getting stronger!!!For biceps, I am able to curl 20 pounds 8-10 times and triceps over heads, I am doing 20 pounds 15 times so time to up the weight! Last time I did squats I did 67 pounds for 4 sets of 10.

Im still running 3-4 days a week, but it looks like Ill be running in the rain today :-(

I am going on a date with my husband tonight, Im gonna try to be good, but if I really want it Im gonna eat it!

Progress

It been a month today since I started this journey and I think Ive come a long way!!! I lost 2 pounds this week. I am very excited about that. 16 pounds in one month!!! I think Im adding lean muscle mass too!!!

This week went very well food wise, I did have a cheat meal last Friday. I didnt go overboard, I had 2 pieces of Papa Murphey's pizza and a mini box of milk duds!!! teeheeheee So exept for that everything Ive eated has been healthy.

Im gonna keep trekking along, my ultimate goal is to be 150 pounds by my birthday in March and to have some muscle definition!

I am still running, but only 3-4 days per week. Usually 3. I tend to go overboard with cardio that I dont need. Im focusing more on the weights this time!

Whoa!!!

Its been a week since Ive been on!!!! OOPS teeheehee

This last week I lost 2 pounds, bringing me to to 175. I knew it was going to slow down, so its ok.

I have been sticking to my weight routine, even if I work I come home and do it!!!! I do cardio on all the days Im off work. I try not to do both on the same day, but there are only so many days in the week. Ive still been running outside!!!! I just love it! Today I ran 2.5 miles.

It took me a little over a half hour to run 2.5 miles. Kinda crappy, but Im getting there! I cant wait to do the Irish Jig this year LOL

I cant believe six days and I have to post pictures!!! I hope I have the guts.

Im still here!

I wanted to let everyone know Im still hanging in there!

Ive lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks. Not a bad start!!!

Im keeping to my schedule of weight lifting and cardio. Yesterday I ran 2.3 miles, and I can feel its getting easier!!!! WOOOOHOOOO

It looks like this:

Monday: Leg day,abs
Tuesday: Shoulders, cardio
Wednesday: Biceps Triceps, cardio.
Thursday: abs, and cardio
Friday: Chest, back
Saturday: Cardio
Sunday: OFF

I weighed myself yesterday and Im down 7 pounds!!!!!!

I know I know, the first week is always best, LOL

I am so motivated to stay on track. I am really sore from lifting weights more than Im used to, but I know it will be so worth it!

Here is what was on my menu today-

Breakfast: Whole wheat english muffin, 2 tbs PB and half a banana

Snack: Apple and a couple pieces deli turkey breast

Lunch: Kashi go lean pizza

Snack: South beach diet cereal bar

Dinner: Chicken breast and broccoli

My weekend

I worked all weekend...and WHEW! What a busy couple of shifts!!!!

I work 12 hours shifts, so when I got home Saturday I was really tired, and ate some egg whites with tomatoes, took a shower, got the kids to bed, and went to bed. I wanted to work out, but since my muscles were so sore from Thursday and Fri I thought Id better take a day off.

Sunday I got to go home early, I got home around 4, and went for a 2.1 mile run. I was impressed with myself, I was able to do it in 22 minutes. Considering I have not ran in over 3 months! My arms and chest are still REALLY sore, but I am going to do legs tonight. I am going to do high rep, low weight. I already have really muscular legs, so I dont need to add much muscle, just tone them.

Ive been sticking to eating clean as well!!!

Busy day!!!!!

I had a very productive day today!!! I cleaned the house, did laundry, went grocery shopping, took my daughter to soccer practice and FINALLY at 9:00pm I was able to get in my workout!!!!

I did back and chest today, which was really hard because I did arms and shoulders yesterday!!! My triceps were already really sore, so doing chest was a bitch!!!

I managed to keep it a cardio workout as well, when I was resting between sets I was dancing or doing jumping jacks!!!LOL

I took some before pics today, but I am too embarrassed to post them right now. I will take more in one month, and put up the comparison shot.

weight room

Tonight I worked out with my husband in our weight room. I have to admit, it felt great having a workout partner!!! I really pushed me to my limit, which is what I need. He says when I get thin, I have chicken arms LOL so I am really going to work on building muscle.

My arms are quivering I can barely type!

We worked arms and light shoulders today.

4 sets of dumbell curls
4 sets of hammer curls
4 sets of triceps extensions
4 sets of another tricep exercise (dont know what its called
and 4 sets of a superset of dumbell flyes and lat raises.

at work today...blah

I am at work today, so far so good. I brought only healthy food with me and Im trying to eat every three hours. Being a nurse, sometimes that is HARD!

Last night during the Biggest Loser I did a ton of crunches. Tonight I plan on doing some cardio when I get home from work. I walk alot at work, but my body is used to it, so that doesnt help me.

I can already feel the effects of sweet withdrawl!!! I am drinking alot of water too.

I weighed myself this morning, 189 pounds....SHIT.

My journey begins...again

I have decided to start a blog to give myself some accountablilty for my wiehgt loss journey. Kind words and inspiration are all always appreciated ;-)

I guess Ill start by introducing myself.

My name is Sherry. I live in Grand Rapids, MI with my beautiful family. I have 2 gorgeous daughters ages 9 and 2.5. I have been married for almost 10 years (OMG!) to Lewis, the best husband in the world.

For the past 8 years or so I have been on a weight roller coaster...and let me tell you I am READY to get off!!!! I never really had an issue with my weight until having kids. After the birth of my first daughter Carissa in 1999, I HATED how my body looked. I decided to do something about it. With the help of my husband (he is a body builder) I started lifting weights and doing Cardio. I started off slow, and admit I didnt know jack about nutrition at this point.

Then I started getting Oxygen magazine. Their excersize and nutrition information was exactly what I needed. I dropped 50 pounds in 5 months. My body looked awesome and I actually was seeing muscles!

THEN....I started nursing school. Oh yeah..the weight started coming back on. I didnt have time to train and I couldnt think about anything else besides studying! And with studying comes snacking. By the time I graduated in December of 2004 I had gained most of the weight back.

My husband and I decided to start trying for our 2nd child after I graduated. Pregnant with Carissa I gained 60 pounds, so I was like what is the point of trying to lose weight now, when Im just going to gain it all back. It took 8 months of trying to concieve Lily and when I went to my first doc appt for Lily I had ballooned to 196 pounds. After I delivered her in March of 2006 I was 234. YES people..234!!!!! Thats AFTER delivering her!!!! I was so busy at first I didnt really thinking about losing weight. Even with breastfeeding I didnt lose anything, because I was eating like crap.

August rolled around and I was so ashamed of myself. After some (then, not so nice) words of encouragement from my husband (thanks baby) I began yet another journey on September 1st 2006. I began losing wight and seeing changes after about 6 weeks. Over the next 18 months I ended up losing 72 pounds. In that time I began running and ran my first 5K!!!! I FELT AWESOME.

Over the last few months or so I have totally lost my muster and gave up again. This time I have no excuse. I just didnt want to do it anymore. Lame I know. LAZY..I know.

Well its over. I am done pussyfooting around trying to get the body I want. I am sick of feeling tired all he time, and Im sick of my pants getting to tight. I WILL get there this time. I dont care if it takes two years.

I WILL be lifting weights 4 times per week, and doing Cardio 4-5 times per week (hopefully running until it gets cold). I am going to start eating clean. No more crap, except for an occasional cheat meal. I am going to go to GNC and get some protein powder and other supplements, and Im gonna do it like I did it back in 2000. 50 pounds in 5 months.
